Reflection

Entering this assessment, I was full of mixed emotions. Having built a couple of websites over the last 12 months, that element of the assessment was not much of a concern for me. I chose WordPress as I believed I would be more likely to achieve the design I envisioned.

I was excited to experiment with the digital tools outlined in the weekly readings. Each were user friendly, simple enough to navigate and would be great tools to refine to incorporate into teachings in the future.

I enjoyed this creative assessment although have certainly met some struggles. My once trusty laptop proved that the digital divide (Howell, 2012) is real. There were certain programs that wouldn’t work due to it being outdated or it simply freezing.

I can now understand the importance of a digital pedagogy (Howell, 2012) to better prepare our students to be lifelong learners in this digital world.

I am excited to use the applications I discovered while completing this assessment in a classroom environment to offer students a transmedia, digitally blurred learning experience to engage them in meaningful learning (Oxford Learning, 2017).

With the use of technology, I look forward to inspire students to not only learn the Australian Curriculum but also to love discovering, exploring, creating, collaborating and to continue learning beyond the walls of the classroom.

To complete this assessment I used the following digital tools

I feel I am closer to being digitally fluent as Howell (2012) described more now than ever before.
